NICOL MERE SCHOOL
We provide our children with engaging and exciting Picture News lessons which ensure our children have opportunities to learn about our world, develop independence, resilience, respect and unlock their own drive and passion for learning. Teaching the news not only provides great content and stimulus, it grips the children’s attention, it is also a way that the children can make an impact. It is current, happening now and so their voice is given meaning and purpose. It is our world and we all matter. We believe in giving children a voice and encourage them to use it to impact things they are inspired by or feel passionately about.
Picture News sessions enable our children to have the opportunity to be reflective about their own beliefs and their perspective on life, to develop their own sense of right and wrong whilst listening to the views of other children and the teachers in their classroom. They can offer their own reasoned views and investigate world issues whilst establishing their own moral compass.
